The Robert Packard Center For ALS Research
The Robert Packard Center for ALS Research is named after the investment banker Robert Packard, who was diagnosed with ALS in 1999 at 41-years-old. Packard was able to raise over 4 million dollars for the Robert Packard Foundation. This money provided the needed funding for Johns Hopkins University to carry out ALS research in 2000.
As a ‘state of the art' research facility, the Robert Packard ALS Center in Maryland is solely concerned with ALS research. The center's main goal is to discover medication or other treatment options will cure or postpone disease progression in ALS.
The Center will be investigating future research into the use of Ceftriaxone to help people with ALS.
